Richard Shan, currently based in Charlotte, USA, is a technical builder who received funding from the 1517 Medici Fund to develop BrailleBox—a device that enables low vision individuals to read physical books and view scenes through real-time AI-powered Braille conversion. Previously, he was a Fab Academy alumnus, where he worked on a project to create a text-to-braille converter with a similar goal of aiding visually impaired individuals. Richard's work highlights his ability to design practical solutions that leverage technology to improve accessibility.
